Did you remember that last week were the downtown Rochester sidewalk sales?  We held ours on the non-existent, make-believe, air-conditioned sidewalk that runs from the back door of the shop to about the kitchen area...  And I have to say, they were VERY successful.  Many, many shoppers enjoyed up to 75% off yarns so that we can make room for fall yarns that will start arriving this week.  But there is still some stuff left!!  Encore especially - LOTS of Encore.  So I've decided that rather than cleaning it all up, we'd just continue the sale for a few more days.  So beginning on Tuesday, all "sidewalk sale" yarns will be offered at 50% off.  That's right - everything in the bins in the back of the store will be a whopping 50% off!  This will not go on forever, though - just until we clear a few more things out.  At the latest, we'll clean it all up on Thursday, so don't delay!

CASTLE FARMS is coming up on Saturday!  I can't believe it!  During this one-day bus excursion, attendees will enjoy a five-hour bus ride each way (can you say "KNITTING TIME?!") and several hours to shop the amazing fibers offered at the Castle Farms Fiber Festival.  This annual event draws fiber artists from all over the region.  You'll find one-of-a-kind yarns that aren't offered in stores, learn some new techniques (have you ever thought about spinning or weaving or dying?), and enjoy an amazing, care-free day with other fiber fanatics.  The bus will leave Skeins promptly at 7am and will return by 10pm.  We will make a stop for dinner, but please bring a "sack breakfast."  Food (albeit fair food) is available at the festival for those who wish to indulge in lunch.  Don't wait any longer - the bus is filling up quickly.  At only $60 for the day, this trip is a steal!

Last thing to note... Our first shipment of fall yarn arrives at the end of this week.  After that, watch for things to trickle in over the next few months.  Shibui is our first one.  This is a new company for us.  I've worked with their yarns and let me just tell you... YUMMY!  We'll start with sock yarns and patterns and some great baby patterns that use those same yarns.  Berroco also has some fantastic stuff (chunky is big this year!) which should start to arrive next week.  Watch the website for updates.
